Ingredients
1 shot (1 oz) fresh espresso or 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
1 cup whole milk or oat milk
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
Instructions
Brew your espresso shot or strong coffee and pour it into a large mug.
In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the milk, ground cardamom, and sweetener.
Whisk the milk mixture constantly for 3–4 minutes until hot but not boiling.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Use a milk frother or shake the hot milk in a mason jar for 30 seconds to create foam.
Gently pour the steamed milk over the espresso, holding back the foam with a spoon, then dollop the remaining foam on top.
Notes
Best served fresh immediately. You can store extra spiced milk in the fridge for up to 24 hours and reheat it on the stove before frothing. Oat milk is the recommended dairy-free alternative for optimal frothing. For an extra aromatic touch, sprinkle a tiny pinch of fresh cardamom or cinnamon on the foam.
