Description
A sweet and tangy summer beverage blending black tea, fresh strawberries, and zesty lemon. Effortlessly smooth and vibrant, this pitcher-ready iced tea cools you down in minutes with a fresh mint garnish.
Ingredients
4 black tea bags
1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 cup hot water
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
3 cups cold water
2 cups ice cubes, for serving
Optional: 4 fresh mint sprigs
Instructions
Brew the base: Pour 3 cups boiling water over the tea bags in a heat-safe bowl. Steep for 3 minutes, remove bags, and let tea cool for 5 minutes.
Simmer the fruit: In a saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and hot water. Cook over medium heat for 4–5 minutes until fruit softens and liquid becomes syrup-like.
Puree and filter: Transfer to a blender or mash, then strain through a fine mesh strainer to extract smooth liquid.
Combine and chill: In a pitcher, whisk cooled tea, strawberry syrup, lemon juice, and cold water. Pour over ice and garnish with mint.
Notes
Storage: Refrigerate for up to 4 days; stir to reincorporate natural fruit sediments.
Sweetener substitution: Replace sugar with equal parts maple syrup or honey.
Customization: Add a pinch of salt to enhance sweetness and tanginess.
