Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
1 tsp salt
1 cup warm whole milk
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 large egg, room temperature
Extra melted butter for brushing
Instructions
In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
Add the warm milk, softened butter, and the egg, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
Gradually add the remaining flour until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 60 minutes.
Punch down the dough, divide into 12 equal pieces, and shape into balls.
Place balls into a 9×13 inch baking pan, cover, and rise for 30 minutes while preheating oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown and brush with extra melted butter.
Notes
Keep milk temperature around 110°F to ensure yeast activity without killing it. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to one month. Use these as a base for mini beef sliders.
