Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup finely grated onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1.5 cups beef broth (low sodium)
1/2 cup heavy cream
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
Soak breadcrumbs in milk for 5 minutes in a small bowl.
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, soaked breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper; mix gently until combined.
Form the mixture into small, even-sized meatballs about 1 inch in diameter.
Melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Cook meatballs for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until browned and cooked through, then remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, whisk flour into the drippings.
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, scraping up browned bits from the bottom.
Simmer until thickened, then stir in the heavy cream.
Return meatballs to the pan and simmer for 2-3 minutes until coated in the glossy sauce.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat gently on the stove with a splash of broth if the sauce becomes too thick.
