Description

A golden-crusted, cheesy family-favorite pizza with vibrant toppings. Perfect for cozy dinners or gatherings, featuring a quick dough and homemade tomato sauce base.

Ingredients

Scale

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
1 packet instant yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
3/4 teaspoon fine salt
3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)
1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Pizza Sauce:
1/2 cup crushed tomatoes
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 teaspoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon fine salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
For the Toppings:
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup sliced bell peppers
1/3 cup sliced mushrooms
1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion
1/4 cup sliced black olives
1/2 cup cooked beef sausage crumbles or grilled chicken pieces (optional)
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil (for garnish)

Instructions

Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir for 15 seconds.
Add the liquids: Pour in warm water and olive oil. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
Knead the dough: Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Rest the dough: Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
Shape and prep: Roll dough to desired thickness. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Prepare the sauce: Mix crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
Assemble: Spread sauce over dough, leaving a border. Add cheese, toppings, and optional garnishes.
Bake: Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12–15 minutes until crust is golden and crisp.
Let rest: Allow to cool for 2–3 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Optional toppings can be swapped with seasonal vegetables.
Use a pizza stone for extra crispiness.
Chill leftover dough up to 24 hours; let warm slightly before shaping.
Check cheese for x-ray marks if storing pastas.
