Ingredients
2 cups water
4 black tea bags or 2 tablespoons loose leaf black tea
2 cinnamon sticks
6 whole cloves
6 whole cardamom pods, crushed
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon black peppercorns
2 cups milk (dairy, oat, or almond)
2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
Instructions
In a small saucepan, combine water, cinnamon sticks, cloves, cardamom, ginger, and peppercorns.
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.
Reduce heat to low, add the black tea bags, and simmer for 5 minutes.
Pour in the milk and sweetener.
Whisk gently and heat for another 3-4 minutes until hot but not boiling.
Use a fine-mesh strainer to pour the tea into mugs.
Froth the milk if desired for extra foam before serving.
Notes
Store leftover spiced tea concentrate (without milk) in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Oat milk is recommended for the creamiest texture. Adjust sweetness by starting with one tablespoon of honey and adding more to taste.
