Featuring a golden, flaky crust filled with a savory, melted center of smoked beef and sharp cheese, these pockets of goodness are incredibly simple to make. Perfect for an appetizer or a light meal, they provide bakery-quality results without requiring professional skills. Prepare these delicious, buttery snacks in just 30 minutes for a crowd-pleasing treat that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale

1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
1.5 cups smoked beef, finely diced
1.5 cups shredded sharp cheddar or gruyère cheese
1 large egg
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Pinch of mustard powder (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet into a large rectangle.
Evenly spread the finely diced smoked beef across the pastry, leaving a small border at the edges.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese, parsley, and garlic powder over the beef.
Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the pastry into a tight log.
Seal the seam by pinching the dough edges together.
Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 1-inch thick rounds and place them flat on the prepared baking sheet.
Whisk the egg in a small bowl and brush the tops of each pastry lightly.
Bake for 18-20 minutes until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.
Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in an oven or toaster oven to maintain the crunch. If you prefer, smoked chicken or sautéed mushrooms work as excellent alternatives to the smoked beef.
