Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
1 large egg
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp olive oil
8 oz mushrooms, thinly sliced
1/2 small onion, finely diced
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth (low sodium)
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp alcohol-free Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until just combined.
Shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized oval patties.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the patties for 3–4 minutes per side until browned, then set aside on a plate.
In the same skillet, sauté the sliced mushrooms and diced onions for 5 minutes until soft and golden.
Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir for 1 minute to cook out the raw flavor.
Slowly whisk in the beef broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
Return the steaks to the pan, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 8–10 minutes until the gravy is thick and glossy.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave. Ensure the Worcestershire sauce used is certified alcohol-free.
