Ingredients
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup milk (whole or 2%)
For Serving: Sliced apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, Fuji work well), pretzels, graham crackers, and shortbread cookies
Instructions
1. Soften the cream cheese and butter at room temperature.
2. In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
3. Add the packed light brown sugar and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture. Beat until well combined and smooth.
4. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk and 1/2 cup of the packed light brown sugar. Stir constantly until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to bubble gently.
5. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring, until it thickens slightly and coats the back of a spoon. Do not boil vigorously.
6. Pour the warm caramel sauce into the cream cheese mixture.
7. Stir with a spatula or spoon until fully incorporated and beautifully swirled, or whisk until thoroughly combined for a uniform color.
8. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and arrange apple slices, pretzels, graham crackers, and cookies around it for serving. Enjoy!
