Description

This easy apple fritter bread is a moist, golden loaf that captures the nostalgic flavors of a classic fried apple fritter without the need for deep frying. Featuring juicy, caramelized apples and a warm cinnamon swirl, this bakery-style treat is perfect for weekend brunches or a cozy morning snack. It is simple to prepare for beginner bakers and finished with a sweet, delicate glaze for perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups all-purpose flour
0.75 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
0.5 teaspoon salt
0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
0.5 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), peeled and diced
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk for glaze

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
In a separate container, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
Fold the diced apples into the thick batter.
In a small bowl, mix the ground cinnamon and brown sugar.
Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle with the cinnamon mixture.
Add the remaining batter on top and use a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon mixture through the batter.
Bake for 50-55 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Whisk the powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk together to create a glaze.
Allow the bread to cool for 10 minutes before drizzling the glaze over the top.

Notes

Store the bread at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days or refrigerator for up to 5 days. For crispier apples, ensure they are diced uniformly to about 1/2 inch pieces.
