Whether you are prepping for a busy weeknight dinner or hosting a game-day gathering, this hearty, protein-packed chili delivers bold flavors. It is easy to prepare, reheats beautifully, and is guaranteed to bring everyone to the table with a smile.

Ingredients

Scale

2 lbs ground beef (85/15 lean)
1 large yellow onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cans (15 oz each) dark red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
2 cups beef bone broth (alcohol-free)
3 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Heat a large Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat.
Add the ground beef and cook for 6-8 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon until fully browned.
Add the diced onions and sauté for 5 minutes until soft and translucent.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add the chili powder, cumin, paprika, and oregano, stirring constantly for 1 minute to toast the spices.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, and beef bone broth, stirring well to combine.
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low.
Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce is thick and glossy.
Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper before serving hot.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days; the flavors often improve the next day. This chili is also freezer-friendly for up to 3 months; thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating on the stove.
