Description
A soothing, caffeine-free warm autumn treat perfect for cozy evenings. This creamy drink blends aromatic cinnamon and sweet vanilla into warm milk for a comforting beverage that the whole family will love. Simple to make on the stovetop, it is an ideal alternative to coffee during the chilly sweater-weather season.
Ingredients
2 cups whole milk (or almond/oat milk)
1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch nutmeg (optional)
Whipped cream for topping (optional)
Instructions
Pour the milk into a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
Add the maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Whisk continuously to combine and prevent scorching.
Heat for 4-5 minutes until steaming and small bubbles form around the edges, avoiding a rolling boil.
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired.
Notes
Best served immediately. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours and reheated gently on the stovetop. Use barista-style oat milk for a dairy-free, frothy version. You may steep a cinnamon stick in the milk while warming for a deeper flavor.
