Description

Bring the comfort of a classic diner meal into one bite-sized, crowd-pleasing package. These cheeseburger pretzel bombs feature a savory, cheesy ground beef filling wrapped in soft, chewy pretzel dough and topped with a sprinkle of sea salt. Perfect for game day, parties, or a quick snack, these golden-brown treats are guaranteed to be the star of the show. They are simple to assemble and pack a punch of flavor in every single bite.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb lean ground beef
1/2 cup finely diced onion
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
1 tablespoon halal Worcestershire sauce
1 package (16 oz) refrigerated pizza dough
1/4 cup baking soda
1 tablespoon coarse sea salt
1 egg, beaten

Instructions

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef with the diced onions until fully cooked and onions are translucent, then drain excess grease.
Stir in the ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce, simmering for 2 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese until melted, then set aside to cool slightly.
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and bring a large pot of water to a boil with the baking soda.
Divide pizza dough into 8-10 equal portions, flatten each into a circle, place a spoonful of beef mixture in the center, and pinch edges to seal into a ball.
Drop each ball into the boiling water for 30 seconds, then remove with a slotted spoon to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle with sea salt.
Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

Ensure the Worcestershire sauce selected is certified halal or alcohol-free. Allow the beef mixture to cool slightly before filling the dough to prevent the dough from becoming too soft or tearing. Serve warm with extra ketchup or mustard for dipping.
