Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef
1 onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
24 oz jar marinara sauce (alcohol-free)
15 oz ricotta cheese
1 large egg
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
8–10 lasagna noodles
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tsp dried Italian herbs
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and brown the ground beef, draining excess fat.
Add diced onion and garlic to the skillet and cook for 3 minutes.
Stir in the marinara sauce and Italian herbs, simmering for 5 minutes.
In a separate bowl, combine ricotta, egg, and half of the parmesan cheese until smooth.
Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a 9×13 baking dish.
Place 3 noodles over the sauce, then spread a third of the ricotta mixture and a layer of mozzarella.
Repeat the layers until ingredients are used, ending with a final layer of mozzarella.
Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbling.
Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Always let the lasagna rest for at least 10 minutes before serving to ensure clean slices. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
