Caramelized, juicy drumsticks with a glossy sticky-sweet sauce, baked to perfection in one hour. Easy weeknight favorites with bold backyard flavors.
Ingredients
3 pounds chicken drumsticks, patted dry
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1 cup BBQ sauce
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425°F
Line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil and optional wire rack
Pat chicken drumsticks dry and sprinkle with salt
Add olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper and chili powder
Toss drumsticks until evenly coated
Bake for 25 minutes, turning halfway
Meanwhile, mix BBQ sauce, honey, lemon juice and mustard in a bowl
Brush glaze onto drumsticks during last 10 minutes
Broil for 2-3 minutes until glossy
Notes
Use parchment paper if avoiding aluminum foil
Serve with cornbread, coleslaw, or roasted vegetables
Store leftovers covered in refrigerator up to 3 days
Substitute lemon juice with apple cider vinegar if preferred
