Description

Embrace the cozy flavors of fall with these incredibly easy baked cinnamon apples! Perfect for a chilly evening or a sweet addition to any meal, this dessert comes together with minimal effort and maximum deliciousness. Imagine tender, warm apples infused with sweet cinnamon and a hint of brown sugar – it’s the ultimate comfort food that everyone will adore.

Ingredients

Scale

4 medium apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, Gala, or a mix work well)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
1/4 cup water or apple cider

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Wash the apples. Using a sharp knife, carefully core each apple, leaving the bottom intact to create a well. Alternatively, slice apples in half horizontally and scoop out the core, or slice into wedges.
In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using). Mix until well combined into a paste. Stir in nuts if using.
Spoon the cinnamon-sugar mixture generously into the core cavity of each whole apple, or spread it over sliced apples/wedges. Pack the filling in well.
Place the stuffed apples (or apple slices) into a baking dish. Pour water or apple cider into the bottom of the dish.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until apples are tender when pierced with a fork but still hold their shape. Cooking time varies by apple variety and size. Halfway through, spoon some liquid from the pan over the apples. Carefully remove from oven.

Notes

Serve warm on their own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. For a dairy-free option, use a plant-based butter substitute.
