2 cans (21 oz each) apple pie filling
1 box (approx. 15 oz) yellow cake mix
1 cup unsalted butter, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)


Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Pour both cans of apple pie filling into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
Sprinkle the ground cinnamon over the apple pie filling.
Pour the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the apple pie layer; do not stir.
Arrange the thin slices of cold butter across the top of the cake mix, covering as much as possible.
If using pecans, sprinkle them over the top at this stage.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the filling bubbles.
Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
