Description

Experience the ultimate cozy fall classic with this Apple Crisp. Featuring tender, sweet-tart apples tossed in aromatic cinnamon and vanilla, this dessert is crowned with a buttery, golden-brown oat streusel topping that provides a delightful crunch. It is the perfect comfort food for family gatherings or a simple weeknight treat, designed to be easy to assemble while delivering homemade quality that warms the heart.

Ingredients

Scale

6 large Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease your baking dish with butter.
In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until well coated.
Spread the apple mixture evenly into your prepared baking dish.
In a separate medium bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt.
Use a pastry cutter or a fork to cut the cold butter into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the oat topping generously over the apple layer and press down lightly.
Bake for 35–40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apple juices are bubbling.
Let the crisp cool for at least 10 minutes before serving to allow the juices to thicken.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can swap apples for pears or add chopped walnuts to the topping for extra texture. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
