Description
Crispy, golden air fryer french fries with a light oil coating and seasoning blend. Perfect for busy weeknights or game-day snacks. Tender inside and crunchy outside with no deep-frying required.
Ingredients
3 large russet potatoes, about 1 1/2 pounds total
1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon fine sea salt, divided
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Cold water (enough to soak potatoes)
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for serving)
Instructions
Wash and cut the potatoes. Scrub potatoes under cold water. Cut into 1/4-inch thick sticks.
Soak for better crispiness. Cover cut potatoes with cold water, let soak for 20 minutes.
Drain and dry thoroughly. Drain in a colander, then pat dry with a clean towel.
Season the fries. Toss potato sticks with oil, cornstarch, 1/2 tsp salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and pepper.
Preheat the air fryer. Preheat at 400°F for 3-5 minutes.
Cook in batches. Place fries in air fryer basket, shaking occasionally. Cook for 14-18 minutes until golden and crispy.
Shake and toss halfway. Flip fries using tongs once halfway through cooking.
Rest and serve. Let fries rest 2-3 minutes, then transfer to a bowl. Sprinkle with remaining salt and parsley (if using).
Notes
For extra crispiness, freeze potatoes after drying for 10-15 minutes before cooking.
If air fryer has a “fries” setting, use that function.
Leftovers can be reheated in the air fryer at 375°F for 3 minutes.
