Description
Crispy air fryer chicken wings with a golden, crackly exterior and juicy interior. Tossed in a savory seasoning blend, these wings are perfect for game day, weeknight meals, or any craving for crunchy comfort food.
Ingredients
2 pounds chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes, tips removed
1 tablespoon avocado oil or olive oil
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon aluminum-free baking powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, optional
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, optional for garnish
Lemon wedges or a creamy yogurt dip, optional for serving
Instructions
Dry the wings well: Place the chicken wings on a plate or cutting board and pat every side very dry with paper towels.
Preheat the air fryer: Set the air fryer to 400°F and let it preheat for 3 minutes. While it heats, mix the seasoning so everything is ready to go.
Make the crispy coating: In a small bowl, stir together cornstarch, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne if using.
Season the wings: Add the dry wings to a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with oil and toss until lightly coated. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the wings and toss again until every piece looks evenly covered.
Arrange in the basket: Place wings in the air fryer basket in a single layer with a little space between pieces. Cook in batches if needed.
Air fry the first side: Cook at 400°F for 10 minutes. Flip the wings and cook for another 8–10 minutes until crispy and cooked through (internal temperature 165°F).
Remove and garnish: Toss or shake the basket gently to loosen the wings. Transfer to a serving platter and sprinkle with chopped parsley if using.
Serve: Add lemon wedges or a creamy yogurt dip for extra flavor.
Notes
For extra crispiness, do not overcrowd the air fryer basket.
Aluminum-free baking powder ensures a clean taste.
Check the internal temperature with an instant-read thermometer for food safety.
